About me

Hi! Let me introduce myself. My name is Jen Vandermyde. My husband, Darren, and I have three wonderful boys. We live in the small Illinois community of Eureka. Darren and I met while attending Illinois State University. We were both very involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and that is where we met. We are actually the second generation in my family and the second sibling in Darren’s family to meet through IV.  I guess IV is a good way to find a spouse. :o) Among other things of course! Seriously though, we both feel that InterVarsity is where we both became very grounded in our faith and were able to start really using it. We both grew up in Christian families but it was going off to college that really helped us to grow up in our faith.

My major at ISU was chemistry education with a minor in biology. I have always had a love of the sciences and nature. I love searching out God’s handiwork in creation all around me. I have also always had an interest in the creation account in the Bible and understanding how the world came to be as God has told us it has in the Bible.

What else about me? I love to read, write, cook, and sew. I am also a research fanatic sometimes. If there is a topic that interests me, then you will probably find me on the computer trying to figure it out.  I am a stay-at-home mom. I love being able to take my boys to school in the morning and then be at home when they get off the bus. Right now they keep me very busy!

So now you know a little about me.
